From the library’s calendar: “Come hear Brian Landon discuss his Doyle Malloy series and his other comedic mystery works as part of the Winter Jackets reading program.

“A Grand Ol’ Murder” follows Doyle Malloy, celebrity detective, working to solve the murder of a maid in a prestigious actor’s home on Grand Avenue in St. Paul. Being an inept crime solver, he hires his own detective to help him sort through quirky characters and solve the mystery. Books will be available for purchase. This event is funded with money from Minnesota’s Art and Cultural Heritage Fund.”

They’re trying to KILL the Internet.

The thing about Google is:

I never know what I’m going to find when I choose my keywords.

Today I used “Minnesota Mysteries” as my search term and wound up finding this terrific list from the Hennepin County Library. And this one from the Red Wing Public Library.

I love the library.

The best place to hide a body …

Ramsey County’s “Winter Jackets”

Sunday, January 14, Minnesota’s Art and Cultural Heritage Fund presents the next installment of “Winter Jackets,” a series of programs highlighting authors and stories from the North Star state. Join us at the White Bear Lake Library to hear Jessie Chandler discuss the road to publication, her writing process, inspirations and using Minnesota as a novel location.

From the Ramsey County Library website: “In “Bingo Barge Murder,” Coop finds his boss, Kinky, dead on a sleazy Mississippi gambling boat. Now it’s up to Shay O’Hanlon, co-owner of a Minneapolis coffee shop, to clear her friend’s name of murder. Cue in a kidnapping, romance with a homicide detective, and nut-hunting mobsters for a comedic mystery novel.”

Event type: Books/Authors
Date: 1/14/12
Start Time: 2:00 p.m.
End Time: 3:00 p.m.
Library: White Bear Lake Library
Location: Community Program Room

GPS: 4698 Clark Avenue, White Bear Lake Minnesota 55110
