In The Library, With a Candlestick.

The Hartless Murderers have made many personal appearances together at book fairs, libraries and bookstores across Minnesota and Wisconsin during the past year. The latest will happen this Saturday, February 11th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Rum River Library in Anoka. According to the library’s website, the group produces “silly, satirical, and downright funny murder mysteries.” Who are we to argue?

And at each event, mystery readers, students and hopeful authors all want to know the same thing: how do you critique each other’s manuscript, without wanting to kill each other? Well, a sense of humor helps. I can honestly say it’s saved lives. Okay, at least one.

We have fun at author events like this one, and we think you will, too. So join us and find out what goes into making murder fun – and profitable. No, we can’t provide plans to help you kill a spouse, but you might walk away with a few ideas.

Who: The Hartless Murderers
What: Author talk/reading from new material
When: Saturday, February 11, 2012, 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Where: Rum River Library, Anoka, MN
Why: we’re still working on that, but it might have something to do with having fun and meeting people. You can buy books, too – so that’s a plus.

Die Laughing.

The “Winter Jackets” reading program at the Shoreview Library invites you to meet the author, Brian Landon, this Sunday from two to three p.m.

From the library’s calendar: “Come hear Brian Landon discuss his Doyle Malloy series and his other comedic mystery works as part of the Winter Jackets reading program.

“A Grand Ol’ Murder” follows Doyle Malloy, celebrity detective, working to solve the murder of a maid in a prestigious actor’s home on Grand Avenue in St. Paul. Being an inept crime solver, he hires his own detective to help him sort through quirky characters and solve the mystery. Books will be available for purchase. This event is funded with money from Minnesota’s Art and Cultural Heritage Fund.”
